Stitched Poetry for “the hurting time”

“Do you know that there’s a halfway world between each ending and each new beginning? It’s called the hurting time… It’s a bog; it’s where your dreams and worries and forgotten plans gather. Your steps are heavier during that time. Don’t underestimate the transition... [and if you can, create something] Nina George [and me]

Isolation doesn’t have to be lonely,
ink your feels
with me.

 do remember the dead,
but don’t forget to be
grateful for the living

If you love all
of me (heart, brain, mouth),
we will blossom together.

  2. Lovely inspiring words Magaly.
Personally, I haven't found isolation lonely as living alone has been my life for more than five years now, and being a little self-contained is part of my personality.
However I do appreciate that many are lonely and scared and stripped of their social circles, and places such as here are wonderful places to visit to lift a lonely spirit.
I guess I do miss the choice of whether to be alone or not...
    Much love

    1. I haven't found isolation lonely either. Pressing? Yes. I miss being able to go outside whenever I feel like it. But lonely? No. And thank goodness for that.

  3. Your stitched poems and wonderful works of art, Magaly, a nd must take a lot of patience. I’ve been learning patience by colouring in my Mindfulness Colouring Book. I love the way you took the quotation, unpicked it, recycled and sewed it into your poetry. I especially love ‘ink your feels / with me’.

    1. It does take a lot of patience. But the work helps me exercise my fingers hands and wrists, and that makes it all worth it. I miss coloring... I hope you show us some of your colored pages one of these days.

  4. Isolation certainly doesn't has to be lonely- not when we have fire raging in our inked souls and determination to beat the odds in our bosoms.

  8. You've gotten so kick ass good with these torn and stitched pieces! The visual artistry is striking and the words, of course, are beautiful. I love the last one especially. We could do with more love of that kind so people can bloom to their fullest potential.

  11. This is sweet Magaly. About remember the dead: Today I saw a segment on Sunday Morning about Heart Island. I never knew it existed. What a beautiful thing for New York City to do for its lost, forgotten and unknown. And now that the Parks Department has taken over the landscaping, its even more special.

    1. A lot of people, even in New York, know little or nothing about Hart Island. And some who know about it don't care for it. I wonder if the latter have ever taken the time to understand the meaning of the place.

  13. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely works of art. Creating art fills my days as well and I'm used to spending time alone, but I do so miss the occasional forays out into the real world to lunch with friends and compare notes about this crazy world we're living in!

    1. I miss living as usual, too. I think we all do. We won't die from lack of going outside, but... how can we not miss the freedom?

  14. I'm really taken by your artwork … impactful and compellingly distinctive. I so agree with the - wonderfully rendered - sentiments expressed in this post and have been trying to motivate others to try to search out a bit of creative inspiration and follow the path to where it leads. Self expression is freeing and in these days of shelter-in-place we need all the 'freeing' we can put together for ourselves …. like rays of light in darkest hours.
