Autumnal Bits

“The leaves are changing; I feel poetry in the air.” Laura Jaworski

autumnal blushes
in butterfly wings, the heart
of wood and the sky

October
blooms pink,
to remind everyone
of the breast cancer
monster.

under a gray sky,
rose and canna lily bloom
retaliation

    1. I, too, love what autumnal does to the tongues. And all the yummy imagery the word brings to mind is an extra bonus, methinks.

  2. Ha, 'autumnal' is one of my favourite words too, and autumn my favourite season. No surprise, then, that my favourite of these pieces is the first. But I appreciate them all, particularly after following the links.

  3. The world is so beautiful in many respects. How on earth did we manage to get admittance? Perhaps it was our/your ability in poetry that helped!

  4. Beautiful bashful bits of autumn, Magaly! I especially love the ‘autumnal blushes / in butterfly wings’ and the retaliation of the blooms. A celebration of pink!

  5. Beautiful autumnal bits and shades of pink. I don't know whose quote is this but it speaks of my support too, “In October, I wear pink for all warriors.”

  8. I wish cancer is just something we are aware of, not something that's personal. That's a pretty pink gumamela. Autumnal blushes, how charming!

    1. For me breast cancer is very personal. I'm hoping that in a year or three, it will become just something for me (and others) to be aware of. Fingers crossed, right?

  9. You got me thinking about the falling leaves as autumnal butterflies.

  10. To me, the three pieces tell a story of colors proudly displayed and announcing their resistance. Or perhaps I just have resistance on the brain as of late. Either way, there's something hopeful feeling in them and I like it.
