Of Wild Blossoming and Fog

not-quite Journaling, 1

through the fog,
sweet coffee and books
conjure warmth

12/14/2020: Outside my window, my neighborhood is a scene out of a Stephen King book. This must be a sign. So, I’ll drop all my responsibilities of the day, and crawl into bed with a ginormous mug of coffee and my well-loved copy of Lisey’s Story. All right, so I can’t do that, but it’s still nice to imagine myself doing it. 📚🥰

One of my favorite quotes (and scenes) from Lisey’s Story: “I was lost in the dark and you found me. I was hot—so hot—and you gave me ice.” ~ Stephen King. I’ve always loved those words, how well they convey the importance of having someone who always knows just what to do to make us feel comfortable and safe, the same goes for how good it feels knowing that we can bring that kind of comfort and safety to another. On this not-great year and always, I hope you have your someone and that they have you.

12/15/2020:Deep Down in the Bones”, because everyone feels (in one way or another).

Let your wild blossom
in public.

12/19/2020: If this stitched blackout fills your brain-housing-group with mental pictures that make you grin and chuckle, you aren’t alone. I grinned and cackled the whole time while crafting it—for I, too, have been blessed with the sense of humor or a hormonal 13-year-old. On a serious note, this piece is my answer to the one who said to me, “My relationships begin real good. Then they get to know the real me, and the good starts leaking out fast. How do you do it?” At the time, I said, “I just let it all out at first greeting. If they stick around, they are worth my time. If they don’t, good riddance.” What about you, how do you do it? Do you show your good and great and not so awesome in tiny doses? Or, do you just let it all out?

  3. Fog is my kind of weather – I wake up to fog and mist most days in Autumn and winter. I love how things metamorphose in it, and Stephen King is the author for that kind of weather. Your haiku radiates cosiness. ‘Let your wild blossom in public’ has become my mantra – thank you!

  5. Wow. That's the view outside your window? I love it! Quite a vision of fog. I have been alone about 80% of the time this year. Thank God for internet-powered interaction with fellow human beings. Poets & Storytellers United are some of the loveliest, most beautiful people in the blogosphere. Thank you so much, Magaly for the warmth and kindness you send over to my little corner on the web.

    1. It is, indeed. And I, too, love it. And I'm right there with you in the being thankful for cyber connections. I believe we all would be a bit lonelier without it.

  6. OOw let it out? It is a daily struggle to hold it in cws During this time of reflection I find myself smiling at the youthful and fearless Me that walked the city streets barefoot and shone genuine smiles at baffled strangers. XXX

  10. I'll be myself. Why waste time on a fake relationship? I'd hate to find out someone else was other than he or she first appeared to be. I don't think I'd know how to be someone else at first, I've never done it.

    1. All good questions and statements, especially the last one. I mean, why would anyone want to waste the amount of energy that it takes to be who they are not? Imagine how much they would accomplish if they just focused on being.

  12. I have seen the 'green' view from your window, now the 'foggy' view. Both quite satisfying. And I also let all of me 'hang out' no surprises later. Cheers and Happy Holidays to you and yours.

  15. What joy it is to have the one (ones) who know exactly what we need and bring it to us. My wild has bloomed in public for some time. (cackles)

  16. I do the opposite, somehow - except for the weird bits that are just always there, I am rather quiet when meeting new people. BUT I grow on them, like really friendly mold. Oftentimes I find myself a fringe part of a small group, and over time the others drop off when they can't be bothered anymore, and I keep the lasting friendships.

  18. We get a fair bit of fog where I live. I love it as long as I don't have to drive in it. It can go on for literally 50 miles and then some, and driving in thick fog makes me claustrophobic.

    1. Driving in fog can be very dangerous. So, I totally understand... especially when claustrophobia is thrown into the mix.

  25. I love every morsel of this delicious slice of your life Magaly!!! I feel that I put myself completely out there in the beginning but I think what I struggle with is being too tolerant ant then with time that strength to hold the difficult fades. Hence 2 marriages that are divorces.....LOL Thank you so much for your wonderful words over at my blog. Happy New Year to you my friend! Wishing you health, much joy, and time for big cups of coffee and a comfy bed in 2021!

    1. Being too nice/tolerant can definitely become a problem around the wrong people. Maybe we'll figure out a way to keep only the right people around. ;-)

Thank you for the wishes (especially the coffee)!
