She asked if I had ever been draggedkicking and screaming and cursing in Spanishout of my comfort zone, just to end up having to admit that the new digs are rather awesome. All right, so Rommy might’ve said it differently, but that is what I heard. My answer? Well… who hasn’t!The first thing that comes to mind—when the topic of unwanted change bursts into the room—is poetry. I couldn’t stand it (things have changed a bit). On a fresher front, I’ve been drawing (since certain cognitive psychologist keeps reminding me that drawing and writing exercise different parts of the brain and doing both is best). I’m not terribly skilled at the art of making pictures that aren’t made of words. But you know I’ll try anything once, often thrice (the moment my brain grows some abs, I’ll totally show them to you).a (cherita) poem (for the Poetry Pantry #495 and the Sunday Muse #75) inspired by Kim’s Weekend Mini Challenge (Maladroit, which means “awkward in movement or unskilled in behavior or action”) and my latest drawing (see below):Watching everyone ahead, sure of stepand climbing higher. When I stumble, I rememberstubbornness can conquermaladroit beginnings.some time ago, I promised a friend (who’s not on social media) that I would share weekly links to my Instagram posts on my blog. I, um… forgot. So, here are the last couple of weeks of sharing. And I shalltry toremember next week, I promise *cough*:- “To love me…” said the praying mantis* scroll up to see the captions

Love the art! So many ways to interpret and of course I also love your poem. I have stumbled many times. Hope this comment finds you happy and well.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Helen
At the risk of committing cliche on the first degree, I shall say that the fall is never as important as the getting up and kicking. And we are great kickers, aren't we?
DeleteFirstly, the wild bits and the image are perfect partners, Magaly, as are you and Rommy! And I love your cherita, especially the thought that ‘stubbornness can conquer maladroit beginnings’, although I’m past the beginnings now, having been awkward all my life.
ReplyDeleteLife is made of circles, methinks--beginnings everywhere...
DeleteStubbornness is a much underrated quality - how else would we conjure words and images
ReplyDeleteIndeed!
DeleteLol, i so love "the moment my brain grows some abs".......i just had an MRI, they checked to see if anybody's home in my brain.......as they asked me my address, and i totally forgot it, it isnt looking good. Cackle.
ReplyDeleteOnce, they asked me my name right before radiation, and for some reason only the universe knows, I gave them my grandmother's name. There was much cackling.
DeleteYou poem made me think of that saying - "It's not how many times we fall but in how many times we get up after we fall" You can't keep a good thing down that's for sure. I love the art. I can see the smile and found myself gazing into a galaxy of the eye. All the twisting and turning leading to something beautiful.
ReplyDeleteTwists and turns craft unexpected art, that's for sure.
DeleteBwahahahahahahhahahahaha! Sometimes stubbornness is the only thing that gets me through. I can recall gritting my teeth in the home stretch of a project that I wanted to abandon, and muttering, "I'm only finishing because I said I would."
ReplyDeleteYou, my friend, are not alone. LOL!
Delete"Weird is my bossom buddy" is one of my favorites!! Love them all! So glad you shared this at the Muse. I always love Guerrero words! 😍
ReplyDeleteSo glad you do!
DeleteI'd love to see more of your art, Magaly! "My Wednesday Addams Smile" -- awesome!
ReplyDeleteBe careful what you ask for.
DeleteBrain abs...I'm going to be stuck on that image for a little while. :) I love the image (and its title) and the poem. I'm a stubborn never-again-will-I-do-this and I could--sometimes--use stubbornness in the opposite direction.
ReplyDeleteNow, I can't see the image extra clear too. Creepy! LOL.
DeleteAh yes, stubbornness can definitely be a positive quality. Yes, I love the art too..
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary.
DeleteStubbornness can be a good trait, but I also like your opening statement. It is healthy to try new things.
ReplyDeleteI shan't disagree.
DeleteOh I agree, with stubbornness you certainly can go further... you might hurt your toes when you stumble, but in the end you will be there at the summit...
ReplyDeleteAnd doing what must be done is winning the battle.
DeleteStubbornness---yes!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly.
DeleteWell, I just love everything about this post. Most especially your humour and that way you make everything tantalizing - even something as uncomfortable as unwanted change. You have this gift with your words. Your cherita of strength and perseverence and your artwork of swirling, sparkly wisdom (my interpretation) are inspiring and speak volumes about you. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, H.
Deleteha Stubborness does make one continue. I have been stubborn a time or two.
ReplyDeleteOr three.
DeleteI especially love "Dream tangible realities." ❤️ I resonate with being stubborn as sometimes it's the only way to get things done. And why not? Given the other way around wouldn't maladroit keep us from accomplishing goals?
ReplyDeleteI believe it totally would.
DeleteStubbornness. It keeps us moving dorsn't it?
ReplyDeleteThat is does.
DeleteMagaly, you are always such a delight to read. Thank your for your words, and sharing your amazing spirit. I have been a little down today, and reading you always lightens my soul.
ReplyDeleteI know this comment was from almost a month ago, but... it still brightens my soul to know these words lightened yours.
Delete"stubbornness can conquer maladroit beginnings" Oh so true. Stubborness is a handy thing to have in one's pocket.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree.
DeleteStubborness is a virtue. That's what I tell myself :) I see you are a bit of a glitter girl - keep drawing - I see energy in what you have created!
ReplyDeleteTrue words!
DeleteTotally 'got' your take on getting out of your comfort zone … and on stubbornness. Loved your artwork. Somethings seem to just have to be set down in a picture. Other things take words. I suspect musicians might say the same about music.
ReplyDeleteI love your closing sentence. And it's implications.
DeleteStubborn is my middle name-I am a Taurus. I love your art and your poetic voice~
ReplyDeleteFantastic name to have *grins*.
DeleteGosh, I love your picture-not-made-of-words. And the words too. Stubbornness, otherwise known as determination and/or a can-do attitude, is very important. A very determined friend, who has been healing herself demonstrably from things the doctors said would kill her seven years ago, has been drumming that into me all weekend to try and ensure I take the best possible care of my own health and don't risk descending into dementia or frailty. She is such a shining example, I have to see the point. And if I were to forget ... I also have your example!
ReplyDeleteI read this comment aloud, and thought of Tish.
DeleteYes, I can relate to that stubbornness... nothing would get done without it!!!
ReplyDeleteRight on.
DeleteLove that answer to Rommy, "...who hasn’t!" And the cherita, it feels as if you've written for me. Only in my case the word is not maladroit but late bloomer. Stubbornness is sure a required antidote. Powerful poem and brilliant drawings!
ReplyDeleteI wrote it for us *hehehe*.
DeleteLove the art in both forms poem and image. Most of my climbs have been falling off the mountain and trying again. Oh, and lots and lots of cursing. lol
ReplyDeleteCursing can be a boost, too, lol!
DeleteStubbornness pushes us again and again. Love the poem, and your art work.
ReplyDeleteYes, and thank you.
DeleteYou already know I love your words, and now I'm super tingly that you're art-ing wordless images as well! I love feeling super tingly! 😜😍
ReplyDeleteThy tingles are too good to me.
DeleteI love your words and I love your art!! Amazing girl!! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteAnd I, my friend, love you!
Delete🖤❤️
