In my heart, October
screams a calming
tale of rebirth,
screams a calming
tale of rebirth,
pages and pages of lived endings
whispering that death will be just
a different beginning.

I love these thoughts of lived endings and a different beginning. And thank you for showing us your fascinating process for the stitched blackouts.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you love it, Rosemary.
DeleteAnd you are most welcome!
DeleteI love the circularity of this poem, Magaly, and the oxymoron in ‘screams a calming tale’ – so effective!
ReplyDeleteYou picked my favorite bits, Kim!
DeleteAnd so may it continue XXX
ReplyDeleteFor a very long time!
DeleteThe seasons changing (particularly to winter) always gives one a feeling of dread as time is not always our friend if at all.
ReplyDeleteOctober is always bittersweet for me: a time to get ready for winter's gloomy ways, but also a time for celebrating my dead. Bittersweetness all around...
Delete"screams a calming tale" -- love that contradictory juxtaposition!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteLike the creative process with the blackout and the stitching Your poem has the flavour of Halloween.
ReplyDeleteThere is something about October that summons Halloween into the ink...
DeleteLovely erasure, MG. Your October rocks.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ron.!
DeleteThe stitching process is fascinating. I too enjoy that "screams a calming tale."
ReplyDeleteI love finding the words, but the physical process is my favorite part. There is something soothing about twisting paper until it morphs into something else.
DeleteI love how the artwork looks like a kawaii, sideways-smiling skull. I'm also a huge fan of those line breaks. I love the little nuances... they bring me comfort too.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that see all I put there... and even more important, why.
DeleteLuv the circular movement of your cherita
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my blog today
Much💓love
Thank you, Gillena.
Delete"... death will be just a different beginning." This if true would bring a terrible disappointment in having hopes for the better in a reincarnation.
ReplyDeleteLots of though provoking ideas in those clever five lines.
Thank you much for this nice prompt.
..
Really? I always thought of reincarnation as a new beginning, one that took a look at all the things a person did... and went from there. Harvesting the results or having planted as well as we could doesn't sound like a disappointing prospect to me. But, who knows...
DeleteNicely done!
ReplyDeleteThank you. :-)
DeleteYou are the mistress of blackout poetry .... this one perfect for Autumn's October.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Helen!
DeleteOH yes! I love the opposite images in the second stanza and just the truth of this poem!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI would very much like to hear a calming tale screamed. Just how would that go exactly? :)
ReplyDeleteA calming tale screamed is full of notes fueled by endings, endings that promise the chance of a better beginning.
DeleteI'm impressed at the stitchery ... so intricate. I like the thought of endings and new beginnings since I'm dealing with loss of a dear friend at the moment. Your thoughts are always comforting, Magaly. So glad to know you!
ReplyDeleteI remember your poem about the passing of your friend. The poem was inspired by similar reasons. I am glad to you too, Bev, and that we can share the comfort.
DeleteOh yes, the circularity of your poem speaks to me too. The oxymoron of screams in a calming tale is a skillful contradiction, and a depiction of this year for me. But the last line gives me great comfort. Thank you! <3
ReplyDeleteYay, for comfort!
DeleteAh yes, rebirth. October is Mother Nature's dying time, at least here in the U.S. But in other parts of our planet, it is indeed screaming of rebirth, and so we know that October is merely a name. xo
ReplyDeleteOctober, like Nature, is a versatile lady.
DeleteIt's funny, through everything that has been happening to me and around me, I am actually excited! I feel so good inside. Like a complete rebirth! I have to tell you, the other day, I was looking at your stitched art you gave me. "I am an irrepressible wild woman" and I started to cry! I was reading your card too, you said, I was the one that inspired you to turn your physical pain into visual art. I am so happy I did! You don't realize how much we all touch each other's lives! You have touched mine so much! Love you! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThis made my day. I just glanced at my own copy of that poem--it's on my wall right above my writing space--and I can't stop smiling at it. You are so right, we "touch each other's lives" and are so much better for it. These last few months have been tough--I had another cancer scare--but whenever things felt like too much, I thought of you, remember all you've overcome... and picked myself up. Few things are as inspiring as being surrounded by friends who remind us how powerful we can be (when we bare our teeth and live!).
