Waiting

Eyes full of ashes,
tomorrow stumbles on ice
and empires weep Blues.

Horror is coming
to die. I hear the wailing,
and echo the chant
of chances waiting
to be
taken.

I will turn my heart
towards the brightest and darkest
bits of the dwarfed dawn.

  3. This is a poem potent with fears and hopes, Magaly. I love the phrase ‘tomorrow stumbles on ice’ and the thought of the ‘brightest and darkest bits of the dwarfed dawn’.

  5. This denies none of the horror, but it also denies none of the hope. I love how powerful it feels because the two are balanced. Somehow the hope just feels that much more real this way.

  6. A world out of control waiting to see if there could be hope in the new dawn. A miracle or a magic wand seems to be needed. Woe to all who brought this mess on. It read very easily though.

    1. I think the kind of magic our world needs involves understanding that magic isn't free, that one must work for it, for everything...

  12. I do love "tomorrow stumbles on ice," and the chances waiting, wailing. ALso, that you allude to it being darkest before the dawn, where it's also the brightest, where hope is, where tomorrow will appear.

    1. I think you're right, Lisa. We fell so deep into the worse kind of darkness, that there is only up and bright now. I hope we soar (and roar) to the occasion.

  14. Eyes full of ashes... black and white, but also hot and dry, as if there are no more tears. The darkest and lightest taken by heart, an acceptance of all and everything in between. I find this very fulfilling.
