When the sun sleeps in,
letting fog-drunk
clouds rule the day,
my heart conjures warmth
from memories of being kissed
by the lips of brighter dawns.
- I turned 45 two days ago. I usually go for a long walk in
the woods on my birthday, but decided to stay in this year—my Piano Man was
feeling poorly from a cold (not COVID, thank goodness), and I did not
feel right leaving the house when my love had a fever. Besides, the sun hasn’t
made an appearance in days, so I did my walking (okay, my running) on my
mini trampoline. My shoulder hurts a bit, and there is a pinched nerve in my
back that refuses to play nice, but… I was still able to
run. And that’s good.

fog-drunk clouds are such an image! bright, hot and blue here... there is a yearning for some overdue April Showers....
ReplyDeleteI will send you some rain, if you send me some hot...
DeleteWhen the sun sleeps in, I think it's a good time to do likewise. But it's hard to imagine your energy flagging; you always look so vibrant! I love the contrast between these two photos. And I love your sweet, warm words.
ReplyDeleteBeing ill in warm weather is just so much easier for me, lol!
DeleteI adore the poem. It's like I wish I wrote that, but I'll just let it inspire me.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteHappy belated birthday, Magaly! You look fab! Hope your Piano Man feels better soon, and the sun comes out, and you can go for your walk then!
ReplyDeleteThank you. He's all better. I'm still a tad cough(y).
DeleteOMGosh you are so beautiful, like your poetry too. If I has some sunshine I would send it your way. different weather here this year. Sorry your should and back are giving you trouble and that your, "Piano Man" is not feeling well. Sending healing energy to both of you. Maybe some sunshine will come along as well.
ReplyDeleteI love your kind of warmth ... my kind too.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love yours.
DeleteIt's that stage of spring where the sun acts like a reclusive diva. She made an appearance yesterday in PA, but it looks like she's stomped off to her dressing room again. I know you'll do your birthday up well when you get the chance, so here's hoping the chance presents itself soon!
ReplyDeleteThe sun needs to stop all this pouting. Seriously, it shouldn't be this chilly. Still waiting for cake...
DeleteCheers to 45... keep spinning like a record and wishing you many more turns around the sun. If I find some sunshine I'll share it with you. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWalks in the woods are meant for another day then.
ReplyDeletefog-drunk clouds is an impactful image but one would rather prefer the bright rays of the sun. :)
I'm still waiting...
DeleteHere's to 45 and to the coolest haircut ever! Hope your Piano Man feel better soon, and that you'll celebrate each day of your birth month.
ReplyDeleteThank you, my dear Khaya!
DeleteMany happy belated birthday wishes to you.
ReplyDeleteWe've had some sunshine this weekend, and I do hope the sun comes out soon for you.
Enjoy the new week ahead.
All the best Jan
Thank you so much!
DeleteSending sun!
ReplyDeleteGracias!
DeleteI am sad that you didn't get out on your birthday, but take solace in the knowledge that that as the day the frogs finally decided to spawn in my garden XXX
ReplyDeleteWoooHooo! Your garden is probably a party by now.
DeleteHappy belated birthday!
ReplyDeleteMay you be forever kissed by brighter dawns!
Thank you so much, Anita.
DeleteHope you and Piano Man are on the mend. Love the poem!
ReplyDeleteWe are. He is a ahead on the healing. But I'm getting there.
DeleteHoping you have sun by now. Winter needs to get on down the road. It has overstayed its welcome, and is interfering with lovely spring. Not here, though. In my huge camphor tree (an invasive nuisance but I love it) I can hear baby birds cryng (begging) and I can see momma and/or dad woodpecker flying in and out. When they fly in, there is such excitement noises! I have had to stop feeding Mr. Crow. He causes havoc when he visits.
ReplyDeleteThe sun remains partially MIA. But I have hop...
DeleteYou're going to continue feeding Mr. Crow, aren't you?
