Bits of Change

I I took a look at last week, and noticed that a lot of what I’ve posted on Instagram included the word “change”. I can’t say that I’m completely surprised. I mean, most people with working brains and hearts have been hoping for the same. What I find fascinating (and a bit amusing) is the fact that I didn’t do it on purpose. Things are different today. I’m reposting on purpose and with purpose. In the future, if (when?) someone asks me about my state of mind around the time most of the US reclaimed its heart and brain, I shall say, “Well, I was around planting seeds, hoping for change, feeling things bloom… Where were you when a lot of the US took a hope-full breath?”

Be the seed of change—
vote.

Change blooms
a beautiful feeling.

bloomed together after a delicious amount of squealing (some of it my own *squeal!*) announced that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were going to be the new US President and Vice President, respectively. I know we have ways to day, but seeing the beginning of better brews wonders

- the background of the magnetic poem bit is from American Gods, Vol. 3: The Moment of the Storm, written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by P. Craig Russell, Scott Hampton, and Rick Parker.

  2. What a lovely progression these make! And it's not a bit surprising that your subconscious may have been preoccupied with change this last little while.

  4. How many millions across the world must have been wishing this too. What concerned me most was the callous way the Covid crisis was handled by so many nations across the world, with continuing profit more of concern than the health of their populations.

    1. I share your concerns. And now with the new wave of COVID cases, things will probably get even worse. I hope people start thinking and doing a bit more.

  5. Well done USA – this time around you made the right choice. People around the world are cheering. This is indeed the change we were all waiting for.
I love the way your subconscious pointed you in the direction of change, and then left you to make of it what you wanted in this delightful poem, Magaly, especially the ‘tree and sky / painting songs of change’ and the thought that ‘Change blooms / a beautiful feeling’. I hope we get some long-desired changes here too.

  6. Not a moment too soon, either. Now, if only he walks away without doing too much further damage... devoutly to be wished.
    Lovely artwork here, too. Congrats.

    1. That is certainly worrisome, the way the orange infection continues to act as if the people hasn't elected a new President. Let's hope January brings good things.

  8. I am started to breath again. We've been desperate for inspiration and to feel safe and now it's here. Here's a poem I wrote about Change in the early 90s.
    Change

    Change armory into harmony
    Change artillery into art
    War into worship
    and nuclear into new clear
    Change invasion into vision
    Conquer into concur
    Change bombs into bonds
    Change end into mend

  11. Seed of change... my part of the world was watching your elections. In some way, results affect us. Congratulations on your new president and vice president.

I didn't exercise my right to vote until only recently when my country seemed to be seriously drowning in deep s***t.

Your post reminds me of Wind of Change which the Scorpions belted out around the time when communist Europe ceased to be.

    1. Thank you, Hazel. I think a lot of people in the US used their voting right for the first time around during this elections, too. The sh!t storm is spilling all over the world.

  12. As the French president said, "Welcome back, America". Now, if we can get the source of our national discontent to leave without causing more discontent.

  13. I was at my tea lesson, being a horrible trial to my tea teacher by trying to come up with a good poetic name for the tea sweets to match my mood. She suggested "autumn leaves piling up" rather than "toss the rotten orange pumpkin away". I suppose she has a point, because it took all of those leaves piling up to bring the needed change. We still have a long way to go. My beloved Bucks County joined Philadelphia in voting for Biden, but local elections didn't go the way I had hoped for.

    1. I still think "toss the rotten orange pumpkin away" is an excellent tea (and idea). 😁

  16. The tree photo is beautiful...I wasn't keen on either of the major party presidential nominees. What I heard of their campaign speeches...Well, let's say I'm favorably surprised that both of them *are* still standing. Maybe I'll be favorably surprised by the Biden/Harris administration, too.
